Modern Slavery Statement 2018

Our Policy

East Coast Fittings Ltd (ECF) is opposed to slavery and human trafficking in any part of our activities or our supply chain, in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We are therefore committed to ensuring that we have develop adequate policies and procedures in place to identify and prevent these practices.

Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act (2015) requires commercial organisations operating in the UK with an annual turnover in excess of £36m to produce a ‘slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year of the organisation’.

Although East Coast Fittings Limited (‘ECF’) is not of an organisational size that requires a Modern Slavery Statement to be published, its Board considers the matter so important that is has decided to issue a voluntary statement for year ending 31 December 2018.

Our Business

We are a distributor of Products and Services principally in the UK and Ireland Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom furniture sector. ECF headquarters are in Rearsby, Leicestershire, United Kingdom and employs over 100 people. More information on our business is available at www.ecf.co

Our Structure

Our business is organised into business units: Components, Doors, Furniture and Services. We distribute a wide range of products from the world's leading brands and also provide specialist sales support, logistics, planning and supply chain services.

Our Supply Chain

ECF operates within the UK and purchases its product lines - materials for manufacturing processes and finished products for distribution - globally, although the vast majority of products are sourced from businesses and supply chains located and operating within Europe.

Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

ECF firmly considers that it has a responsibility for promoting ethical and lawful employment practices. Accordingly, ECF will not knowingly use unlawful labour or forced labour connected in any way to the products and/or services it provides, nor will it accept commodities, products or services from suppliers that employ or utilise unlawful labour or forced labour.

ECF expects the same high standards from all of its suppliers, contractors and other business partners and also expects that its suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same principles in supporting and upholding all practical and reasonable measures to safeguard against modern slavery.

Procedures on Slavery and Human Trafficking

As part of our compliance with the policies referred to above, we take the following steps:

  • Assess potential risk areas in our supply chains;
  • Mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking occurring in our supply chains, including by reviewing, where necessary, the controls that our suppliers have in place and carrying out other suitable checks.
  • Monitor potential risk areas in our supply chains on a periodic basis.

Responsibility for ensuring that our procedures are adequate and are adhered to in all areas of our activities rests with the directors of ECF.

Nature of this Statement

This is a voluntary statement made by ECF. This statement does not form part of any employee's contract of employment and it may be amended at any time.
